Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1.    What is happening in Nirimba Fields?

Defence Housing Australia (DHA) is entering the next stage of delivery works at its Nirimba Fields neighbourhood (Akuna Vista). These upgrades will be delivered during 2026 and will complete key streetscape elements, including new street trees, additional footpaths and road sealing, to further enhance this well-connected and highly liveable community.

2.    Who is carrying out the streetscape works?

Perfection Landscape Services has been appointed by Defence Housing Australia to deliver the street tree planting and footpath works.

3.    When will the streetscape works start and when will they finish?

Works are expected to commence on footpaths and street tree delivery in April 2026 and will be delivered progressively across the neighbourhood, with the full program for these works anticipated to be completed by spring 2026, weather permitting and without any unexpected delays. The first phase is expected to begin in streets including Siding Terrace, Dorland Street and part of Swordfish Street, noting that works may not occur in this order. These works will be followed by the final seal of asphalt on road, later in the year.

4.    When will I receive a letter about works starting in my street? Can you share the program with
me so I know when my street works will start?

Residents will receive a letter from Perfection Landscape Services up to 14 days before works begin in their street. This may occur as early as mid-April or the following months, depending on your location. The letter will include more information about street works and contractor details. As the contractor will continue to refine the program as works progress, we’re unable to share a detailed overall program at this stage.

5.    How long will works take in my street?

While the overall program spans the whole neighbourhood, works on individual streets typically take around two weeks, depending on street length, suitable weather, and the absence of unexpected delays.

6.    What should I expect during construction?

During these works you may notice:

• An increased presence of construction vehicles, trucks and machinery
• Temporary changes to pedestrian and traffic conditions, including short-term traffic holds or localised access impacts
• Barricaded work zones for safety
• Controlled open excavations and active works zones while construction is underway.

Clear signage and appropriate safety measures will be in place to minimise dust and traffic and pedestrian disruption.

7.    Will access to my driveway or home be impacted?

Works will not occur within existing residential driveways, and access to homes will be maintained. You may be asked to temporarily move your vehicle if parked on the street to allow works to proceed safely.
